Cavity wall insulation added between bricks and blocks

Day 13: First Cavity Wall Insulation Placed

The walls flew up today. Starting to get a real feel of how the room will be. Discussed radiators and flooring, as well as the all important audio cable conduit.

The cavity wall insulation was placed while the walls there bricked up. The order is external bricks, insulation placed, internal blocks added.

The insulation used was DriTherm Earthwool 37 cavity slab insulation, the standard material for home builds. These are semi-rigid and non-combustible, made from a glass mineral wool with a water-repellent additive.

Insulation is good even with the standard material. The DriTherm 37  has a thermal conductivity of between 0.035 to 0.037 W/mK .
