1.5 metre foundation trench completed

Day 4: Foundation Trench Dug To 1.5m

Start of Day 4. Most of trench backfilled to get the digger into place.

Day 4 was both eventful and uneventful really. It was uneventful for me as nothing very visual happened, but very eventful for the builders who dug out an extra 50cm of rock hard earth. The builders dug out the rest of the trench, going down to 1.5m, which seemed more than twice as deep as 1m. Then the building inspector came out and gave it the all clear. They carried on digging some more and then went home.

The cement for the foundations is booked for 11am on Friday so there was not much to do in the afternoon once the trench was down to 1.5m, so everyone went home early.

Also, the rainwater run off pipes were cleared as they continue for more than 5m from the new boundary of the house.
